21 Old Route 9, Call Listing Agent, NY 12173

Old Kleinrood, circa 1789 - a rare 18th century Dutch Stone House with Greek Revival addition. A chance survivor of the region's earliest architecture, Old Kleinrood pairs an authentic 1789 Dutch stone cottage - its thick fieldstone walls, original beams, and hand-wrought details intact - with a graceful Greek Revival addition believed to date to circa1820. A rare balance is achieved; two centuries of craftsmanship live under one roofline, offering the character collectors search a lifetime for, with the livability today's buyers need. Set along the corridor between trendsetting Hudson and storybook Kinderhook, this is a unique chance to own a documented piece of Hudson Valley history in one of the region's most sought-after locations. In addition to the museum quality public rooms, the property has carefully tended mature gardens, ancient trees, an in-ground pool, chef's kitchen, expansive screened-in porch, and an antique outbuilding that houses a three car garage with electric car-charger, separate studio-office space and a craftsman's shop and tool shed. Old Kleinrood sits along the corridor between two of Hudson Valley's most magnetic towns. To the south, Hudson, NY has become one of the Northeast's most talked-about small cities - a place where 19th-century warehouses showcase galleries, chef-driven restaurants, and a weekend population that arrives by train from the city and doesn't want to leave. Just to the north, Kinderhook keeps its own counsel: dignified brick mansions, historic homes on quiet streets, and a pace that hasn't been rushed by any of it. Between the two, Old Kleinrood offers a rare middle ground - close enough to both to borrow their best qualities, far enough to feel like its own private world. This is not a renovation project disguised as a listing, nor a modern building wearing historic trim. Old Kleinrood is just as it is: a documented, two-phase historic structure with both its Dutch origins and Greek Revival soul both remarkably intact. For buyers who know the difference between ''historic-style'' and historic - who understand what it means to own an 18th century stone house, hand laid around the time the Constitution was ratified - this is a rare and serious opportunity. Old Kleinrood. Circa 1789. Waiting for its next steward.
