About Gilboa, New York
Gilboa is a town in the southern area of Schoharie County, just southwest of Albany, in the Catskill Mountains. Formed in 1848, the name comes from Mount Gilboa, an area in Israel referenced in the book of Samuel. The original site of the town was flooded in 1926, in order to build a dam, and the town was relocated and rebuilt just north of the reservoir that the flooding created. The new location is a beautiful area, and a great place to live and work.
