The snow is gone for the year (we hope) and summer is on the way, meaning it's time for opening windows and spending more time out in the fresh air. Spring cleaning may be on your to do list, and it's a good time to consider going beyond washing windows and clearing out the clutter. Here are a few ideas of how you can get your home ready for summer.

Check the Roof
Check your roof for cracked or missing shingles or tiles, and examine flashing around vents and the chimney for damage. If you don't feel it's safe for you to be climbing up there, you can check out your roof from across the street using a pair of binoculars. This is also the best time to have the chimney cleaned and inspected by a professional chimney sweep, as they tend to be booked solid in the months before winter.
