Originally built in the late 1920s as the clubhouse for the once popular Rip Van Winkle Golf Course, Shandaken Inn has been welcoming guests to the northern Catskills for almost one hundred years.

Paying homage to the once famous Rip Van Winkle Club, Shandaken Inn's restaurant and bar is named after the original golf clubhouse. Legend has it that John Philip Sousa wrote the music to one of his many compositions on the back of the club's subscription card.
