The Catskill Mountains have been a destination location for decades and while this often becomes a weekend away, there are many things to do and places to dine during the week. Day by day, Catskill businesses are proving that the Catskills are not just for weekends. New and seasoned restaurants are in full swing with hot food, cold drinks and cozy atmospheres.

It's a beautiful area that we live in. Summer is here, it's warming up and we're surrounded by fresh, cool water. You just want to dive in. But sometimes it can be a bit confusing on where it is and isn't okay to dip your toe in. Many of the beaches on the area's ponds, rivers and streams are owned by local residents, so it's important to know which of these swimming areas are public and which are private property.

A good rule of thumb is if you don't see a sign saying it's okay to swim there, it probably isn't. But there are no shortage of public parks, NYC and NY State bodies of water, campgrounds and pools for you to get wet in.

Here are a few favorites you can visit. Please keep in mind to take any trash out with you when you leave to keep our outdoor areas beautiful for everyone
