Looking for some New York culture that won't cost a fortune? Longyear Gallery in Margaretville is an artist-run cooperative representing professional artists from the New York Metropolitan area and rural New York State. Since the gallery's founding in 2007 word has spread, and the gallery has been visited by art lovers and collectors from all over the United States and abroad.

Exhibits change monthly, each including a new body of work by a featured artist along with a new group show.
Currently on display is the gallery's largest exhibit of fine art, "Series," a members group show that highlights how the artists produce works in series. There are thirty-two artists whose work is represented with multiple, connected pieces from each. The exhibit runs until Sunday, May 8, 2022. Visit the gallery website for more information.

Since Longyear is a not-for-profit cooperative that takes no commissions on sales of the artists' work, the gallery offers both casual and serious collectors the opportunity to purchase high quality work directly from the artist, without the overhead associated with commercial galleries. Additionally, visitors will note both a lack of pretense and a sense of intimacy not often associated with commercial galleries. All visitors are welcome to contact Longyear artists and may make arrangements for studio visits, where additional work may be viewed.

Longyear Gallery is located in historic Commons Building in Margaretville, NY on the edge of the beautiful 700 thousand acre Catskill Park. Be sure to stop by when you are in the area to view some amazing art and find that perfect piece for your home.
